The main warmonger power
D.Anton.
The current wars that they promoted and unleashed (Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Yemen) are not enough.
They need more wars.
They also require a powerful enemy with nuclear weapons to justify even more spending.
That enemy is Russia. Therefore a situation of permanent conflict with Russia must be secured.
That way they can spend many billions of dollars more on sophisticated military systems.
These people (capitalists of the military-arms complex and politicians subordinate to them) do not care about the possible risk of a nuclear war.
They do not care if tens of millions of people die.
Greed is a strong policy-maker..
I include the following comments that Paul Denlinger wrote in Quora:
"There's this little thing called the defense budget of the USA: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mil...
The nice thing about this little multi-trillion dollar monster is that it has managed to keep growing ever since the end of WWII. At the end of WWII, after defeating Japan and Germany, the new enemies were the Soviet Union and China. Then the US had to fight in Korea and later Vietnam. Then Cuba went Communist. Then the US became dependent for oil in a region of the world where Israel is, and had to safeguard big oil's and Israel's interests. In order to keep the Iranian oil flowing, the CIA overthrew a democratically-elected government in Iran, which the Iranians have hated the US for ever since, especially as the US installed the Shah, who was a not very bright puppet.
Now, you would think that with the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, the US defense budget would go down, right? Guess what, it didn't even stop to catch its breath as the US fought Iraq for its invasion of Kuwait and then invaded Iraq in 2003 on trumped up WMD charges. At the same time, it was invading and occupying Afghanistan for its aid of Osama bin-Laden in the destruction of the WTC.
In case you have any doubts about what takes the biggest part of the FY2011 budget proposal; defense takes up 28%.
This does not even count interest on debt for past military spending which takes up 7%. So, if you counted in everything related to defense, it would come close to 40% of the federal budget.
Now, if you listen to the Tea Party candidates talk, they will tell you that the government must cut Social Security; but defense is the sacred cow which they would never ever dare to mention. Why? Because their biggest donors and employers are often in the defense industry.
You see, the US has been on a war budget ever since about 1950!
Once you see these numbers, it should be fairly easy for you to figure out why the politicians want to keep on telling you that mean people want to kill you and destroy the American way of life.
When in doubt, check the numbers. Usually they explain the reason why.
