The bearded invaders Barbados are not the sons of Wirakocha but of the Devil"
Manco Inca
Yupanqui had escaped from the armies of Atahualpa in Cuzco and collaborated
with the conquistadores in the belief that foreigners would free them from the
"evil troops of Quito" that had killed their entire family.
It was
named Inca by foreigners but without any authority and totally controlled by
the Spaniards. He could not receive his subjects, or circulate in the city, he
observed the abuses committed by the Spaniards with the women of the nobility,
the people and the virgins of the sun. He was clearly a hostage of the
invaders. .
Due to the
mistreatment he received, he decided to rebel and almost succeeded in expelling
the Spaniards from Cuzco (1536). When not obtaining it it took refuge in the
valley of Vilcabamba (Willkapampa). Finally he was assassinated in 1544 stabbed
by a group of seven Spaniards who pretended to be his allies and betrayed him. Before
leaving for Vilcabamba, Mancu Inca Yupanqui sent a message to the inhabitants
of the invaded Inca territories
"Brothers
and sons, I have gathered you to see the new kind of people who have come to
our country, those bearded people who are in this city, because they told me
they were wiraqochas and they seemed to be according to their clothes, I
ordered them to they served and obeyed as they would serve my own person ....
thinking that they were valuable people sent from afar, as they always
proclaimed, by Tiqsi Wiraqochan, or God, but it is clear to me that everything
turned out to be the opposite of what I expected, that, know this, my brothers,
these people have shown many times since they entered my country that they are
not the children of Wiraqocha but of the Devil. "
After the
death of Manco Inca Yupanqui the rebellion would last 28 more years. On
September 24, 1572 the last Inca, Tupac Amaru 1 was hanged in the Plaza de
Cuzco and control of the Spanish over the ancient Tahuantisuyu became total.
