Environmental disaster in Brazil

Hundreds of thousands of dead fish in Guanabara Bay, Río de Janeiro, Brazil.
D.A.    (news of 14/1/2016)

The basin of Guanabara bay has 4,000 km2 and almost 8 million people, plus tens of thousands of industries and more than 1,000 slums.
The degradation of the bay has a long history and is having its worst crises now, just when Brazil and Rio de Janeiro will host the Olympic Games in August 2016.
The economic and political crisis in this country will not help to solve the acute environmental problems, which are also largely political problems and more especially the result of social inequalities.
After centuries of uncontrolled use of resources, looting of valuable natural ecosystems and displacement or genocide of indigenous peoples, which still continue, are and will be paid. There is no free lunch in history.
The festival of ecological and ethnocide impunity is ending.
