The Syrian regime of the secular and socializing Baath movement, which has vigorously opposed Israeli expansion since the creation of the Jewish state in Palestine, has long been in the sights of the United States, Israel and the conservative monarchies of the Persian Gulf.
Like so many Middle Eastern governments, the Syrian Baath is an authoritarian regime that largely bases its strength on the support of the Alawite and Shiite communities of the country. In order to prevent their overthrow by force, the Baathist presidents (Hafez Assad, succeeded by his son Bashar Assad) gained the support of the Soviet Union and then Russia, thanks to the granting of a base on the Syrian coast in support of Russian the Mediterranean fleet.
The conspiracy of the Baath's enemies included Israel, the CIA. The US government, the Gulf oil kingdoms and emirates, several European Union governments and, finally, the different jihadist groups, ISIS and Al Qaeda. Through this alliance, "rebel" movements were financed, organized and installed, systematically deforming information on the development of political and military events in Syria, This allowed to conceal the methods and intentions of these ultra-war policies.
The real victim of this bloody alliance is the Syrian people who suffered the death of more than 200,000 people and the expulsion of several million refugees. The country has been destroyed. However, the Baathist regime has resisted. And this is not because there is solid support for the Assad regime but because the ascent to power of the fake rebels would bes more death and destruction, transforming the Republic of Syria into another satellite of the bellicist and expansionist policies of the military- Industrial complex of the United States..
