In India, due to the possibility of pre-natal selection of the gender of the children and to the masculinist prejudices that exist in that society, there has been a significant imbalance in the number of unborn children who are aborted during their gestation.
At present 914 girls are born every 1000 boys.
In some states, little more than 700 girls per 1000 boys are born.
The girls' deficit is at least 600,000 per year, and it is expected to reach more than one million very soon.
There are millions of men, more than 30-40 million young men who do not and will not have a female partner.
As a result of this situation the demand for girls has increased. There are kidnappings of girls of any age, in addition rapea and other sexual crimes have spread in an alarming way.
